Trail Blazers' Damian Lillard gambles big on Vegas casino

Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard is the latest NBA player to invest in a Las Vegas casino. The six-time All-Star has purchased a minority stake in the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

Lillard, who is coming off a career season in which he averaged 27 points and 7 assists per game, said he was interested in the investment because of his love for gambling.

"I'm a gambler," Lillard said. "So, I like to put myself in positions where if I do well, then I can make some money. And this is one of those situations."

The move comes as other NBA players are getting out of the casino business. Golden State Warriors stars Steph Curry and Andre Iguodala both recently sold their stakes in the Texas Hold'em Poker Hall of Fame.

Despite the trend among NBA players, Lillard said he doesn't view his investment as a risky one.

"I don't feel like it's a gamble," Lillard said. "It's something that I'm very comfortable with and I'm looking forward to doing some good things with it."
